BWXT Washington Inc.
Two connected townhouses on Capital Hill have had many changes over the years that produced a confusing and structurally unsound interior. The new design transformed the space into a Washington headquarters emblematic of the high-tech manufacturing client. The lobby, reception and tele-conference meeting room are defined by a diagonal grid, mimicked in the carpet design. The open steel stair is supported by trussed guard rails with punched aluminum panels, evoking the industrial basis of the company and depicting its power and strength. In contrast, the cherry paneling and stone tile flooring allude to BWXT’s attention to detail and precision in manufacturing.
