Bucher/Borges Group (BBG) was retained to study the Felters Complex that occupies a superblock in Johnson City, NY. The site was originally a felt manufacturing complex with buildings constructed from 1891 through the first half of the 20th century; the property is currently underused. BBG developed alternative development schemes for medical offices and hospital administrative space that use traditional materials but have a modern design vocabulary. The largest plan included 200,000 square feet of office space plus below ground parking on two city blocks. BBG also designed an overhead bridge that would link the buildings, providing a pedestrian connection during inclement weather.
