The circa 1769 Menokin plantation house and outbuildings were built for Francis Lightfoot Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife. The ruins of the Palladian style two-story stone and brick house and its adjoining office and kitchen buildings are located in Warsaw, VA and the site is a National Historic Landmark.  Bucher/Borges Group (BBG) is part of the design team, led by Machado and Silvetti Associates, that is transforming Menokin into a learning center for heritage and natural resource conservation for the Menokin Foundation.  Work is currently underway to stabilize the remaining historic fabric of the house and office buildings.  Future work will include partial reconstruction with original materials and restoration of the original shape with a glass and metal shell.  Since much of the original millwork was removed before the collapse, selected features will be reinstalled.  Glass interior walls and floors will allow visitors to have a “behind-the-scenes” look at the historic features, such as the way the millwork is connected to its frame.
